Had a great time on Thurs with Cville’s Writer House folks! and am off to Raleigh, NC in an hour or so (Quail Ridge Books tonight; Hayes Barton United Methodist tomorrow). In chatting about Bible Babel, there are at least two big things on the table: the Bible, of course (figuratively if not actually) and writing, in general. I’m always happy to read from Bible Babel, but I also love to discuss whatever comes up. The general theme of our Writer House gathering was writing about sensitive topics — things about which people have immediate and strong feelings. Guadalupe Shields moderated with great leading questions and insights. I’m excited to discover what the people in NC will bring — writers who invest time and energy in craft and story; people wrestling with the Bible’s multi-valent nature, delighted, challenged or perplexed by its history, characters, and style? I’m soon to learn! Off to the airplane now~
